No on demand with samsung box & buzzing
Just wondering how usual this is. I have had a Samsung box for many months and never got on demand working. The moment I try to use it it refuses giving an error like 1092.
If I switch off the box and restart the box works for 5 mins and then starts to buzz and the picture freezes. I then have to switch it on and off repeatedly over several hours or even days if I leave it off overnight, to get it to run without buzzing. Every time it is switched on it goes through the buzzing and freezing phase after 5 mins but sometimes it frees itself after about 10 so you have to leave it a while each time. On getting it to work after all that I am afraid to upset it again and just give up, but on the rare occasions I have got an on demand programme to start it runs for 5 mins and starts to buzz just like the buzzing after starting it and often forces me to switch off the box. My Pace box worked OK before it gave up the ghost. Is this normal? Or should I complain harder. Problem is every time I complain the CS rep always says it was a service outage and fiddles about with their end and says to try that, but it never works longer than 5 mins and the problem is constant. I have been hoping it was their end and that being patient would see a fix, but I havent and I dont think it is their end. I think its the Samsung box. Any comments / info would be gratefully received, thanks. |
Re: No on demand with samsung box & buzzing
Yes, that's definitely a box problem. It could be overheating - make sure you've got plenty of space around it, and the vents on the bottom aren't blocked.
If improving the ventilation doesn't help, you'll have to keep reporting it to Faults until they send someone out to swap the box. You could try reporting it on the virginmedia.support.tv newsgroup instead of the phone. |

OK thanks I will take it up with them. Plenty of ventilation on its own glass shelf so I dont think that is the problem.
