STM 3 to 4?
Ok has it doesn't tell you on the website i was wondering if anyone actually knew preferably anyone who works for virginmedia.
Simple question is there stm between 3 and 4 pm. If not could in theory max my connection for 1 whole hour? without getting stm'ed |
Re: STM 3 to 4?
There is no download stm but the upload stm starts @ 3pm and download stm starts @ 4pm

Re: STM 3 to 4?
Only just realised that the upload starting at 3pm makes it more likely that you'll hit STM anyway, because of how much upload you use while capping your line.

Re: STM 3 to 4?
To not trigger upload STM on XL youd have to average under 0.52 meg (out of 0.768 meg) for the duration of the 6 hour window 3-9pm.
Not quite full speed, more like 2/3rds speed for the whole time. |
Re: STM 3 to 4?
I am going to have to run some trials then because I am always uploading and frequently hit my upload stm in the evening. I have just checked the VM website and interestingly it doesnt say anything about an upload STM during the day time and I am sure I am capped during the day. I'll do some experiments and let you know.

Re: STM 3 to 4?
I once uploaded to my server around about 2.30pm then stopped, then started uploading at 6pm. A few hours later I was traffic shaped before 9pm. I had not downloaded anything and yes I know for sure it was STM. It makes me wonder when the counter for upload actually starts, whether it takes into consideration what you have uploaded before 3pm.
Usually when I upload after 6pm I have no problems, it is just when I have uploaded before 3pm that I have problems. |
