V+ Box Noise
 

We have a V+ box that basically works Ok, however every 1/2hr there is a click and what sounds like a fan starts up or perhaps the hard disk spinning up, this last for about 30 seconds then shuts down again, all is then silent until another 1/2 hr passes, this occurs always and it doesnt matter whether the box is in standby or on, it is the same.
I had Virgin in and they changed the box as the previous one did this also.
We have had V+ for about 16 months and it is only the last two we have noticed this, both my children have V+ in their own homes and they do not get this noise.
Any suggestions please?

Have you box got the ''Virgin Media'' or ''Telewest'' sign on it???

My box has got the ''Virgin Media'' sign on it and the sound is on all the time unless I put it on standby.

But my dad who has got the ''Telewest'' sign has no sound.

So I think the sound it something to do with Virgin Media's newer boxes.
