Something strange is going on help needed
Right Ive been using speedtest.net to check my speeds. Ive run about 3 or 4 tests total. When looking at my speedtest history. First ive noticed that my recent speedtests have disappeared. Instead there are some strange results.
Ive got one showing 0.62mb 10/23/2008 19.37 6/14/2008 I did not run this test so confused 10.83 6/10/2007 1.94 6/10/2007 im not even on a 20mb connection. my tests for this year in the months october and september have vanished. I dont recognise any of the others. These are all listed as coming from my ip address. ---------- Post added at 20:00 ---------- Previous post was at 19:53 ---------- sorry but should I have 2 ip addresses with my virgin media im sure i had a static address |
Re: Something strange is going on help needed
virgin don't do static ips. Instead, they give 'sticky ips', which stay with the MAC address of the client connected to the modem. Whenever a ubr gets resegmented, however, you lose those.

Ive just realised megabytes and megabits.
Im still looking at a 0.08mb recent result though which is ridulously low. |

Re: Something strange is going on help needed
My IP hasn't changed for literally years - despite multiple reboots, offline time and changing through speeds from 1Mb to 20Mb. How is this possible then?

They like you?
It's just possible you have a lifetime lease on your IP. In which case, hold on to it! :) |
Re: Something strange is going on help needed
I'm trying bud, got so many domains pointing this way I'd be totally lost if it changed!

Re: Something strange is going on help needed
The leases themselves shouldn't be allowed to expire, so long as you've a client PC connected it will renew its' lease whenever it's switched on, and most devices should periodically, usually around half way through the lease, renew the address anyway.
If you aren't resegmented you generally won't see an IP change. |
