Lousy Picture and Sound

This afternoon the picture kept breaking up when we were watching tv and tonight its even worse and the sound is shocking ... keeps cutting out.

We've been generally watching BBC1 tonight.

I must pop over to the Virgin Media site and see if there are any reported problems.

(I did turn the tv off and reboot the V+ box in the hope it might help - but it didn't!!)

First problem - find what area I'm in ..... my bill says Area 31

Have you called customer support? I had a problem a month back and had an engineer out the next day. Got a replacement V+ box and he updated something in the cabinet - perfect PQ since. :)

No I haven't called Customer Support.

It only started today and I wondered whether it was a service blip. Its never happened before

Well I phoned Customer Service today and they say they are having all sorts of problems.

I did find this link which might be useful to people.

It didn't look like there were any issues in any region close to me - but then I found this page - still nothing relating to my area.

Well BBC is unwatchable again this evening because the picture and sound is breaking up.

Still nothing showing up on problems despite being told this morning by Customer Service that there were problems that were anticipated to be fixed by 10 am today!!

How much longer ???????

Well at last the technician is coming out tomorrow!!

(I hope so!!)

It was India and the bloke was obviously reading off a script and I was answering questions - stopping the flow of his script!!!!! Well ... I thought it was a bloke - but it could have been a robot .... but in that case I wish Virgin would sort out his accent!!!!!!!!!!

I've just arrived home from being out all afternoon - switched tv on and the picture is perfect :erm::erm::erm:

Obviously something has been 'done' outside!!

Well I know I am talking to myself here ... but I have just received a call from Virgin Media.

I was sent a survey about the response to my call to the Customer Service.

I told them how I felt .. and I received a call just now saying that the operative was being taken off for further trainng and to let me know that they do listen to our responses.

Well done Virgin Media

I've had same problem last year and it has returned in last few days

It seems to affect all BBC channels only (excepet BBCHD) - and it only happens during peak-viewing time 6-10 ish - so be prepared for it's return

I tried to call VM last night on 150 & 151 but they were both maxxed-out and not answering calls

I think it's something to do with the box outside (when they fixed it first time)

Re: Lousy Picture and Sound

Its all a bit weird!!

Since Thursday late afternoon its been fine!!

The engineer checked the signal yesterday and said it was good although he did say that he has had a lot of people saying the same thing.

I mentioned that it could be weather related if it wasn't cable ... and he said that some elements still come INTO Virgin via cable and the cold weather does seem to affect them until the cables get used to the cold!!!

That actually did make some sense - because our cold weather this year changed very quickly rather than gently getting cooler!!

Who knows!!???

Next winter I hope I remember this!!!!

(Also .... I hope its not a weather related problem otherwise we won't be happy Virgin customers if we can't watch what we want to when we want to!!!!)

What did they do to your box ???

spoke to a bloke in services (India) - he asked me few questions about it and it was fine after that - nobody came out so either 'he twiddled' it remotely or it was a coincidence

.

thought that was the end of it but it's back again

apparently VM had some outage problems about 2 weeks ago (when my problems recurred) so it may be related

It may have been coincidentally fixed by network maintenance, but there's nothing the CSRs themselves can do to fix picture breakup.

What town are you in FairyFairy?

I called 151 and they're going to come and have a look on Monday

Of course the picture will be perfect when they're here - it wont break down until he's just left :)
