Dvd recorder set up

I have just purchased a Sony DVD / HDR recorder, model number HDX890, which I want to connect to my NTL Samsung digital cable box, and to my Sony Bravia LCD tv. I have tried using an HMDI cable and also the existing scart cable. But I have had no luck. When I switch on the AV channel to which I have connected the recorder to the screen is blank.

Hi ranger, First things first. Welcome to the forums.

Sorry if I am being a bit thick here but are you saving that when to you test the TV > DVD recorder link you can't get a picture? Could you also confirm that you only have a standard cable box and not the V+?
