Problem with Microsoft Update Lately
Hello All,
Every time I go to Microsoft Update these days I get the message below, but why? I am logged on as an administrator and in fact I am the only user of this computer. I am using Vista and Office 2007. To install updates from this website, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your computer. If you use Windows XP, you can see if you are an administrator by going to User Accounts in Control Panel. |

This guy says this: "Change your settings on your computer to "get more products" or something like that from "Windows Updates". You cannot visit the WU website in Vista." http://www.vistax64.com/vista-genera...s-install.html and sends the OP here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow...dowsvista.mspx I guess Vista must work differently for updates. I've still avoided it so far. |

Re: Problem with Microsoft Update Lately
Very interesting since it is Vista that directs me to the Microsoft Update site in order to cure "some problems"?!
Also is "Windows Update" something diferent from "Microsoft Update"? |
Re: Problem with Microsoft Update Lately
I believe Windows update gets changed to Microsoft update when you install office or another MS updatable product...

It doesn't. You have to specify the change manually. For XP, go to Windows Update and click Install Microsoft Update and for Vista, go to Windows Update (on the start menu), then click "Change Settings" and tick "Use Microsoft Update". You may need to agree to a licence to enable this. |
