Just bought a netgear wireless modem/router .... just wondered if anyone has had problems connecting to orange ip .

Do some routers work better for some suppliers

its a netgear rangemax wireless modem router.
dgb111pn-100ks.

looking for help as in the event a better option is available,i may go and swap it.

I now have the option of swapping it for a belkin n1 wireless router ....

Any idea's wether that would be better on orange

Go into the setup of the device and it should tell you...at a guess it'll be 1500.

Yes with an ADSL connection it helps to set it at 1492.

Indeed - but Orange need it lower I believe - I set one up a couple of weeks go and I think I set it to something lower than that.

In general, Netgear are better than Belkin IMO.

Yes, on the box they all tell you that it will be up and running in fifteen minutes, (plug & play) but forget to add that it takes nearly a week to get it working properly.

When I first set up my Netgear router, I later found that the root of the problems were caused by too higher encryption settings, I had to adjust it down to 128 to 64 bit and after that it worked perfectly.

After that turned off the SSID so it is hidden. :nworthy:
