Rollerblading / Inline skates

Anyone into rollerblading ?

I really liked ice skating but the costs of having to travel to Nottingham and pay to get on the ice is costing me lot's of money so I am thinking of taking a break and try rollerblading instead, which will be atleast free to skate around.

I don't see many people skating in England. It seems to be much more a thing I see in france along the coast but maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Does anyone here skate ? Reccomend any good inline skates ?
Got any tips?

Many thanks.

halcyon.

Used to be a big thing around here in the late 90s early 00s, there are still various skate shops around but the tendency of most people tends to lean to skateboarding, they have put up various skate parks around here to give the younguns (:p:) something to do and they always seem to be busy.

Yeah, I realise I will probably be the only one in my town with them but I don't mind. As long as I'm having fun and doing some exercise that is the main thing.

I'm hopping over to France next week so thinking of popping into a Decathlon sports shop there to see what they've got.

Whichever you get look for a few things, one is a good inner sock that is replacable/washable, the size of the wheels (small wheels can make it harder to skate) and also make sure that the wheels have decent bearings in them..

i suppose that would save you the fare home :D :D and skating home will take you a lot less time than it takes you to hop there!!

Yeah, i skate, or rather, did when it wasn't just 8'C outside...

I have a nice pair of K2 skates, cost about £75 with 50% off. Had tonnes of fun :D Normally skate a good few miles with ease.
My recommendations are: Wheels of a size greater than 80mm (Mine are 84 i do believe).
Replaceable sock if you really go to town with them.

Thanks for the help Scott. :tu:

I was looking at a pair of Fila skates too.
Your K2 skates seem to have good reviews. I'l definately look into these.
