BT Home Hub 2, acquiring IP address
I don't consider myself a numpty but this ones got me.
I've just taken collection of a BT Home Hub 2 (after several trouble free happy years with sky, I moved house and couldn't continue with SkyBB) So the routers up and running, it was working fine on day 1. Now though, my laptop can connect no worries. But when I try to connect with the desktop, it can't acquire the IP address etc from the router. I've even typed in the IP info manually, when I do this it connects, butn then drops out again after about 15 sec. I changed all my security to WEP, but the same, connects and then drops out after about 15-30secs. Yet my lap top is ok?? Both running XP. Anybody else have this problem?? |

Main thing i would like to know is the adapter also can it see the router basically as much info that you can give would be handy |
Re: BT Home Hub 2, acquiring IP address
Well I found some info on another site, looks like the router can sometimes get confused when multiple machines are connected to it. (which isn't much good)
The answer was to to disconnect all machines, do a full factory reset of the hub. remove the driver of the wireless card and re-install it. Then it worked. See how long it lasts, would be a pain if you had to do this often. |

Yeah I've seen this sort of problem with the Homehub before, they're not especially clever!

Re: BT Home Hub 2, acquiring IP address
If it's a home PC just set a static on it and only use dynamics for laptops that can be moved from router to router...
