Look at this speedtest and tell me what you think......
Hi folks,
I was just browsing the web and I just felt I wanted to check the speed of my 20Mbit Cable Broadband connection to see if everything was ok. I felt at first I was just going to get the usual output of the red speedometer going at rougly at the 20Mbit range. But no the dial just shot through the speedometer! My eyes nearly popped out . Here is a snapshot below of the speedtest I just done recently: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2008/09/8.png |

Those tests mean very little to be honest.

Re: Look at this speedtest and tell me what you think......
Aye, they mean nothing. I did the speedtest again shortly after that and the speeds went back to normal.

But i go witht eh poster above that the site isnt a realible test. Try gamefiles and try download the maximum files at once oyu can and total up the speeds if it over 3mb/s or near 5mb/s you are somehow on 40MBit |

Very occasionally the policing on downstream has been known to fail. Congratulations, enjoy it. Don't reboot your modem, guard your connection with your life :D ---------- Post added at 17:22 ---------- Previous post was at 17:20 ---------- Quote:
But yeah most likely the downstream policing failed for a little while, the speed you got is almost exactly the capacity of your cable area so most likely the kit at Virgin didn't police you briefly. Maidenhead isn't a great test also - try http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk instead it's more reliable and has always been spot on for me from several ISPs, from Zen and Pipex right through to Be and Virgin. |

I have never had any major problems with my connection and I am on 20mb, below is pretty much normal for me.
