Welcome to the forum. I have moved your thread to the correct forum.

As for your query, it looks like your router has some sort of custom firmware that disables or restricts access to the Remote Assistance options, so you may need to contact your ISP.

I would, however, recommend against using remote assistance as it will allow anyone to hack in and reconfigure your network.

Re: Thomson st585 remote assistance

the problem is that i want to do ssh to one of my machines behind the router using port forwarding .
and i did exactly as stated in
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...uch585/SSH.htm

but , i've found that the port 22 in the router is closed .

is it possible that the router is not supporting all of these tasks ssh remote assistance ?
neither the help of the router interface page nor the manual said any thing about supporting or not supporting .
the ISP is not blocking this service because the machines with real IPs is working with ssh
see
http://www.speedtouch.nl/docs/CLIguide_5x6_527.pdf

but i've noted some thing strange , the ssh port is not listed in the "Supported TCP/UDP Port Names" page 375

if as u said before , do i've the ability to upgrade my routers firmware , if so.
How ?

what do you think about that ?

You are getting mixed up between port forwarding and remote assistance. Remote Assistance (on the Speedtouch routers anyway) is a system that allows someone to get in to the router's configuration page and alter it remotely.

I can't actually test the instructions given, as I am not at home, but that is exactly the same procudure I followed when I needed to add ports manually (for something else, not ssh), and I can say it does work.

As for the firmware update, well, all I can say is check the speedtouch website, or that of your ISP.

I think you'll need to provide more info as to what you want to do,
Your hardware, OS, and software your using, would also help.
