cd -rw +rw difference?
Can anyone tell me the difference between CD-RW & CD+RW discs? I know the difference between R & RW is being able to rewrite, but I don't understand the difference between the '-' and '+' RW:dunce:
Thanks |
Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
I am not sure you can have cd + but you can get dvd +R and RW
see this for an explanation on the old (- ) and the more modern (+) systems |
Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
As far as i know Valerie, there isn't one, it's just how it's written.

Re: cd -rw +rw difference?

Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
My Kiss500 media player doesn;t seem to like +R/+RW but will sometimes play them dependant on make, -R/-RW's play no worries...
I think it's more to do with the makers compatability than the method, Sony +R's I have no problems with where as other +R's can be an issue |

There is an old, but still useful, comparison of the various DVD formats here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/altissa/temp/dvdformat.pdf |
Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
Depends on the Age of the device.
Older Dvd Writers only worked with one type, more modern ones support both. Pretty much the same with newer Dvd players, perticullary the Supermarket cheapie ones which seem to play anything you shove in them :p: |
Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
i allways buy the + rw don't know the different i just thought + works on all dvd players

Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
Here's a couple of useful sites that explain the differences between various media ..
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/ .. tells you who makes what .. http://svp.co.uk/category/dvd_minus_...inus_printable .. what the brands look like and whats 'under the label' .. |
Re: cd -rw +rw difference?
IIRC one can be written at a vairiable bit-rate whilst the other not and this is why some dvd players reject +r\rw
