Hi Les, could you let us know how it's cabled up... where does the printer plug into?? It's more than likely an issue connecting between XP and Vista machines.

I take it it prints fine from the PC it's connected to??

Re: printer sharing

I think it depends on the drivers. AFAIK some USB based printers just don't work via Printer sharing.

Better to try and find a cheap Wi-Fi printer instead

I bought the HP Photosmart C4380 for £70 which is a fantasic printer and the Wi-Fi works really well (although like all HPs the software is a bit bloated), however it seems to be have been discontinued

Re: printer sharing

thanks for suggestion,it seems iv,e two options open to me:-
1,buy a new printer
2,use it with the usb lead every time i won,t to print
once again thanks ,but if anyone else has any ideas please let me no.

Re: printer sharing

Do you have file and printer sharing enabled on both machines?

Are you able to share files across the network?

When the printer is connected to the desktop are you able to browse across the network from the laptop and see the printer?
