can't connect to internet

Hi guys I'm new to this forum - somehow I have lost my internet connection from my Desktop computer. The network connection has gone missing - anyway I thought this would be no problem just download NTL Cable Modem 351000 driver (100) which just removed it. to get to the point I need to install the driver somhow. The odd thing is I am using my sons computer WFii via the router through the cable modem. help please.
it all started when I installed a new printer I lost my USBs and I run my cable modem/router through a 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet LAN to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter, MB

Hi and :welcome: to the forums.

Unplug ethernet cable from your PC so it is not connected.
On your PC, point to start right click on My Computer. Select Properties.
Click on the hardware tab, then Device Manager.
Under Network adapters there should be one listed 10/100 or something like that.
Delete it.
Reboot your machine.
Windows should automatically find your LAN connection port.
You may be asked to provide a drivers CD if your ethernet card needs one.

Now switch everything off. Turn on modem. Wait for it to initialise. About 1 minute.
Then plug in ethernet cable to PC and boot up PC.

Should work for you.
