don't forget that the groups referenced in the nzb file need to be available on the server you choose for the download - I have been impressed with the VM newsgroups server for 'standard' TV program downloads, recently, but the giganews server is still more reliable for 'other' files ...

just downloading 'Britain from Above' episode via VM server with Grabit using an NZB from Newzbin, with no problem (2403 KB/s) - I know that isn't any help for your problem, but just to confirm NNTP access is working where I am..

Hi everyone ,, it seems that VM as got a problem with united-forums ,i have tried downloadind stuff thats got united-forums attached to the download , and you have no chance at all . its nothing to do with retention , its something VM as done, i do know and understand that VM as only 7 days retention , but i have tried many downloads within the 7 days and there is no chance at all

Re: Newsgroups down?

that's the problem with VM's own newsgroups - just not reliable enough

I could probably live with 7 days retention and buy a non-expiring block for the odd thing that's more than a week old (which I tried for a fortnight after cancelling Giganews), but just too much like hard work

£ 5.86 p/mnth to Astraweb for 140-odd days retention is fine for me

But that's only for 25Gb unlimited speed or unlimited GB at slow 1Mb transfer speed. It's $15 for unlimet/unlimited which is on par with most usenet providers

I used this special offier - need to use the link - $11 pm for unlimited data/speed

they say their prices will never go up

well worth it
