Wireless connection but no internet
 

I currently have Vigin media Broadband with a D-link DI624 wireless router. I have had no problems for the past 2 months of using the router then from the day i used cable broadband with Wireless router, after every 3-4 hours my internet connection is lost while the wireless connection is showing OK. What I have to do is to restart my PC, and everyting starts working well. But i cant do it all the time, becuase connection is broken while i am middle of downloading or a call.

Any help would be much appreciated as I am now completely confused!

Try changing the channel on your modem. if it's cutting out on a call then you most probably have DECT phones and that and the modem are on the same channel.

Thanks for your reply. I had tried this method ealier. But this doesnt sort my problem.
If channel changing would have the problem, then it my internet wouldnt have connected after restarting windows.

Are you saying when the connection is dropped, it's the internet you loose, you can still browse to the router's admin pages, or are you unable to even see the admin page :confused:

If the internet connection is beinng dropped, that would be between the router and modem. to fix that you'd normally need to reboot the router and / or modem.

If you are just rebooting the PC it suggests the problem is either on your PC's configuration or the router.

Have you checked for any updated firmware for the router? Are all your drivers on the computer current? Do you you have anything running on the computer such as torrents (p2p)? Do you see similar issues if you connect wired rather than wireless?

Thnx for your Reply. Whenever my internet connection is dropped, i am not able to open the admin pages of router also. Bu i can ping all the websites and router. and i m running P2P client azuerus all the time. Is it the problem becuse of torrents? There are no such issues if i connect directly to modem.
