Help Needed !!!!!!
Hello everyone,
I moved to new house they have cable modem and router but I couldn't get router signal i tried using router boster but same problem. Then i bought a new virgin cable modem from ebay but when i try to install it, its ask for registration i dont understand. can i use two modems in one house by using another cable from the main..... Can anyone please help..... thx |
Re: Help Needed !!!!!!
Ok, firstly :welcome:
Secondly, the modem that you have bought from eBay is technically still the property of Virgin. The person that sold it to you has done so illegaly as they had no right to do so. Thirdly, you should be aware that only one modem can be in use on one Virgin connection at a time. Fourth, you should know that only VM approved hardware is allowed to be connected to their service. Finally, you should know that unless you have a legitimate contract with Virgin to provide a service and are using legitimate Virgin equipment supplied by them (or approved by them for connection to your service) you won't receive any further help here. Hope that goes some way to answering your questions :) |

Re: Help Needed !!!!!!
That's a long distance - must be some enormous house :D
Cat5 (Ethernet) cable should be ok up to about 100m, provided that it's good quality cable and that it's terminated correctly (the plugs on the end are fitted properly). |

|
Re: Help Needed !!!!!!
Welcome to the forum, Hope you have some luck with the Cat5...
Although, If you are a Virgin Customer if the modem was faulty they would of posted you one out in the post and a simple phone call to Tech Support will activate it for you when you call them on arrival :) |

Can the OP please confirm that they are indeed a customer and then people will be better able to advise a solution to the issue? |
Re: Help Needed !!!!!!
sounds like he moved into a new shared house, and the people who also live there have a virgin connection which he wants to use also, but the wireless signal is too weak.
So he wants to try ethernet. Harmless enough post |
