packet loss help please

Hello all, could anybody offer me some advice on a problem im having with packet loss.

My speed & ping seems fine, yet I keep getting net freezes (on games & browsing the web).. kinda like lag spikes.

I checked for packet loss & found im suffering from between 6 & 10% depending on the 2 tests ive ran.

Ive checked it about 10 times today & on 2 occasions its been 0% then the other 8 or so times its ranged from 3.8% to 12%.

Its only been happening from yesterday & im not sure what to do to test more.

When I check for packet loss by pinging websites it (cmd/ping www... etc) it always shows its ok.

Ive tested 2 computers & its the same - even now at midnight im suffering 6% loss.

Tested using :

http://www.irishisptest.com/runmyspeed.php

&

Dan Elwell's Broadband Speed Test

both give same results.

Im on the 20mb service(grimsby) & use an attenateur(spelling correct?) on my line (tested without & exactly the same).

Modem configs:

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 6
Downstream Frequency : 402750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 5360.537 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps32Increment4
Downstream Receive Power Level : 7.0 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 39.2 dB

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 4
Upstream Frequency : 29200000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QAM16
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 51.5 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

Should I just phone VM? or can anybody give me some advice on anything else I can try?

Thankyou in advance

Re: packet loss help please

Try getting Dr TCP and lowering ur MTU to 1458.
