Router help needed ?
 

Since upgrading from 4mb to 10mb, my main PC is running with average speeds of 5-7mb which I can live with even if it falls well short of the 10mb !

What is bugging me is that all other PCs and laptops and PS3s hanging off my Belkin F5D7231-4 router are running slower than they were on the 4mb speed. I did a speedcheck five minutes ago and the main PC was running with 6.01mb and the laptop, positioned just six foot away from the router, was running at 1.47mb which mirrored the upstairs desktop PC.

What am I doing wrong here and what do I need to do ?

Does your router have the latest firmware installed? Are these all wired, or are some wireless connections?

If you have a single PC connected direct to the modem, the router disconnected, are you still seeing low speeds. At this time of day the network can get a bit busy, you're into peak STM hours now, so it could be local congestion holding some things back. Maybe try a bit later?

try the optimizer, it is recommended by Virgin lol.
