Cut through cable, Is it a repull or repair?
2 Attachment(s)
As the subject my cable coming into the house has been sliced but not fully severed, so no phone. Tech booked for Thursday.
My question is is this a repair or a repull? If it's a repair I'll wait till Thursday, if it's a repull I'd rather call them and have that arranged. Also what's the chances of whether or not I'll be charged given that the wires aren't covered by a plate. TIA Mags Photo's attached |

Looks like a repull will be required going off the pics.

In both cases no charges made to my account, yours looks like they rushed it and never shielded it properly so the should be no charge. They will probably try to splice first but looks like a repull is more likely. |

repull. i wouldn't personally bother repairing it, although possible, not worth it.

Thanks guys, my original install was done on a wintry day when the ground was hard, Dec 31st 2000 to be exact.

I would put it in for a repull not a lot of cable to play with for connections:)

Thanks Ned, I was thinking repull myself but the process has just changed so has to be a normal service tech who comes, looks and books the repull.
Do you think he'll be able to do a temp fix cos repulls are taking forever at the moment? Mags |
Re: Cut through cable, Is it a repull or repair?
The tech should make a temp repair .I all ways did when poss even if it means leaving the cable loose in the garded as long as it was safe to do so so the customer is not left without any service. As for the time it takes to do a repull yes it is stupid and not giving the customer a great service some can be 2 weeks so a temp is good way of keeping the customer happy:)

Re: Cut through cable, Is it a repull or repair?
I'd be really interested to hear who the whole experience works for you... be interested to know how quickly you got an appointment for service tech - did he turn up on time - then how long it takes for repull organised and the experience of the team who complete the repull.... also looks like you have block paving... maybe an issue.. but let me know. thnx
P.S. how did the slice the cable happen too? |

Re: Cut through cable, Is it a repull or repair?
Hubby accidentally cut the cable when using the hoe in the garden on Sunday.
Phoned in and tech booked for Thursday 8am-12pm. This was first available. Tech arrived this morning around 10am, showed him where it had been cut asked if it needed a repull, he said he'd be able to sort it with a gel pack (dunno if that's it's proper name). Offered to make a tea or coffee for him, but he didn't want one. Watched him work cos as you all know I'm nosy. He did a top notch job in my opinion, reburied the wires so they can't be seen and then I had the cheek to ask if he could take away the box that used to be my 2nd phone line when I was on dial-up. He did, I thanked him profusely and off he went. Mags |

You're very understanding letting your husband use a ho... I've watched Jerry Springer and I think they're just in it for the money.:dunce:
