sky to cable
 
i have just swapped from sky broadband to virgin cable broadband, i was wondering if anyone knows if i can use the sky (netgear) router/modem to connect to my new virgin modem so we can use our computers wirelesly? having just moved house finances are a bit tight so cannot afford to purchase a new router just yet!!!

If it has a built-in ADSL modem then, no you can't.

I assume it must have because we had it plugged into the phone line when we had sky. Ah well it was worth a try! Thanks for your help

poke about in the routers settings, if it has an ethernet uplink port it may be possible to disable the modem and make it like a normal (cable) router.

The sky ADSL router can not be used for routing cable, best you can do to it is to use it as a hub or if it's a wireless version a wireless access point.

Hi!

I'm not sure if anybody has told you but if you take broadband size:L or XL with your package you can have a free router anyway as a new customer...
