Throttleing software
My son is dis respecting me big time. My wife wont let me smash up the wireless router:mad:. So is there any software I can use to drop his bandwidth to about 1kbps :D
If not I'm gonna have an accident with a rum and coke tonight :D |
Re: Throttleing software
Go for the hardware approach, your bare hands, they should throttle him nicely.

Re: Throttleing software
Log into the router's control panel.
Most of them have an option to set IP based rules. You can set up a rule that only allows your son access to the Internet at predetermined times. You may also find that you can set a rule that limits the bandwidth that he's allowed. If he's giving you that much trouble then I would simply withdraw his Internet privileges for a certain period of time - after all, he's the child and you're the parent, sometimes kids need to realise that their negative actions have negative consequences ;) |
Re: Throttleing software
Or just take the router/modem away?

Re: Throttleing software
I can understand how you feel ,had same problem here with him being on all night and doing very little else .I ende upusing a Linksys WRT54gl router which will let you set the times that you want to allow connection to the internet and then upgraded the firmware with Tomato and that also gave me the QOS option (limit bandwidth).;)

Re: Throttleing software
When i was on Virgrim, i had to change all my hardware to take up what your asking. But i'm sure there are new routers out there now that have port throttling on. i had to get a draytek router (cost me a bit) and a wireless AP attached to that. Then from the draytek it evenly shared the bandwith out. It worked very well. I did look for software but you need the connection going though your pc then out to the others.

Re: Throttleing software
best thing is to take the modem away when he wants to use it as he cnt just plug another modem in and use it
