Connecting to separate BB line from inside a network?
 

We have a separate BB line installed by BT at our work, now i want to connect to this so i get unmetred internet access, is it possible from what anyone knows? I have the details of the box and can dial into the network from outside....thanks.

Will this be as a stand-alone connection from your PC/Laptop, or will you still be connected to your work network as well?

I suspect that if you speak to your work's system administrator they will be able to give you the information that you require.

Thats the thing, iam the administrator lol. I think a call to our networking guys might be an idea, they setup the box on the line and locked bits of it down i recon. You can't even ping it from inside the network.

I'd give the networking team a shout and see if they will oblige. If it's being filtered/blocked (or if it's otherwise locked down) there's little anybody here will be able to do to help you circumvent/overcome that. :tu:

Also, if it's locked down as part of an overall security policy they'd need time to plan around any changes and make certain nothing is left exposed.

Agreed - not a lot of point having a firewall and other edge security, if there is a back door into the network through a stand-alone BB line onto a networked PC. ;)
