The 360 & DLC DRM - FIXED!

Ever changed consoles (e.g. had a refurb due to the RROD, or simply bought a new one), only to then find that all the Xbox Live Marketplace content you've bought (XBL Arcade games, game add-ons, whatever) can only be played when you're signed into XBL?

[YES!!!!!!!!!!!]

Well, MS have finally sorted it out :)

You can now use the "Content Licence Transfer Tool" (aka The DRM Tool) to transfer the licence for things bought with an older 360 onto your current 360.

2 stages: stage 1 involves a quick visit to Xbox.com. Stage 2 involves re-downloading the various bits of content in question onto the current 360, so it can acquire the new licence. Don't worry though - if it's already on your HDD it doesn't actually re-download the whole thing, just the licence (my rather large downloads for e.g. map packs & the Mass Effect DLC went from 1% to 100% in a matter of moments).

Finally! I can start transferring stuff to the right hard drive for my console, and stick the spare one in the lounge for some system link fun :D

This is great news! :D The only fly in the ointment is that you can only use the DRM tool once every 12 months but hey! I'm happy with it. ;)
