Another BEFW11S4 + NTL:250 Prob

After looking all over the forum i have come across loads of threads with the same issue, but no solutions yet.

The router freezes, unable to access via http and wont respond to pings until the modem and router are rebooted.

router firmware is up to date - Firmware Version: 1.52.02

Anyone found a fix for this yet?

Peace

The fix is called WRT54GL plus 3rd party firmware!

At home i have a WRT with dd-wrt firmware, the TNG release by Eko. But im at my sisters just now and its doing my head in having to power cycle the router every hour.

Cheers for the helpful info though

While i was snoozing like a baby last night i had a "vision"

If the NTL:250 runs its dhcp on the 192.168.100.xxx then why dont i try assigning the router with a .100.10 ip addy in the hope that the router will no longer freeze like a baby rabbit paralysed by headlights

Woke up, no coffee dammit so i went to the shop and bought some, and input the new settings.

We shall see what happens

I may be wrong here, but the 250 doesn't have its own inbuilt DHCP server, the IP address is assigned by virtue of the computer NIC, not the modem.

IIRC while the modem is waiting for an ip addy from VM it will assign a .100.xxx ip to the computer, then it will shunt the assigned ip addy to the computer/router when it gets it.

i havent had to reboot the router in since my last post, <<<<<<<<< tempting fate
had to reboot it just now, so it didnt work lol.

Those are horrible cheapo routers. Anyway, it has DHCP release and renew buttons on the status page. I know someone using one with a 255.
Dump it asap as has been suggested and Tomato is a much nicer firmware than DD-WRT.

Yeah, it does.

AS stated, if the modem is offline, it will dish out its own 192x IP address to allow engineers, etc to log in and get readings... makes troubleshooting easier.

Id change the routers IP to 192.168.1.1 ... seems to be standard, is on my WRT54GS and works 99.9% of the time... (nothings 100%, right?)
