Chorus/NTL Letter about excessive usage :S

I got a letter which told me i downloaded in excess of 160gb, and that they upgraded to a 120gb usage limit pack.

I had previously thought that NTL did not have such a limit, and upon reading this letter I visited the UPC website and read the Acceptable Usage Policy. There it said that the penalty is 3 cent per megabyte over the limit.

Are they going to charge me for the excess usage?

I can't afford to pay €3000. Even if the upgrade accounted for it, thats still 40gb excess usage, which is €1200, which I cannot afford either.

I sent an email to them and have not got a reply yet.

The AUP says they may take any of these actions:
Quote:

·Impose a charge of 3 cent per megabyte or part thereof for exceeding your data transfer limit; and/or ·Upgrade your package to a package with a higher data transfer limit with the corresponding higher monthly fee; and/or
·Downgrade your upload and download speed for a period of one month to dial-up speed, with your monthly fee remaining the same; and/or
·Suspend your access to the services for one month, with your monthly fee remaining the same; and/or
·Terminate your account as per the terms of the User Policy and UPC Terms and Conditions.
Sounds to me like they've just put you on the higher plan and probably going to let the 40gb go, but best to give them a call if you're worried.
