Re: Sun in Polski!
Anyone see reality just slip a bit? The Sun (put the dirty immigrants back on the boat) writing a paper in a language for the dirty immigrants who should be back on the boat. I didn't think the Sun went above 5 letter words, lest they alienate the readership.

Everyone has a price even the gutter press. I would have thought they could have boosted their readership by a much greater level by printing it in Urdu and Punjabi though. They might have to get the page three girls to wear a Burka though there is some level of hypocrisy there. Have you ever seen a copy of "Asian Babes" ? |
Re: Sun in Polski!
Why should we be printing English papers in to different languages? It just causes more problems than we already have, if someone move over here from a different country, I'm pretty sure you'd expect them to learn English? How are they going to learn English if newspapers start printing in their language also?

Re: Sun in Polski!
Its all about money mate...thats what makes the world go around. People lose their lives over it,people kill for it,people intimidate, threaten and commit crime for it. The Sun probably knows that its indigenous readership is not sophisticated enough to wean themselves off their trashy publication. Buying a copy of the Sun for them is as natural as smoking their next cigarette or whatever vices they have.
I dont know but i expect the newspaper market is dwindling a bit with the growth of other medias. They have to do all they can to boost sales. I would expect the Polski edition to be a little slimmer though. I mean they couldnt publish rants about immigration, benefit and health tourism could they? |

* My son met another kid in the swings last week, who was obviously not English. His Dad was there, and had a strong accent, so I asked him where he came from - 'Croatia'. Turns out that the lad, who's lived here most of his life, isn't particularly good at Croatian, since obviously everyone he goes to nursery** with speaks English, despite the area being extremely mixed. He only gets the language at home. ** At my son's school two boys are teaching each other their languages, Punjabi and Spanish. I think this is rather a good thing. Obviously both speak English, too, but think how good it will be in 20 years time when a substantial proportion of the British working population are bi-lingual out of the box. |

After the call I mentioned this to a colleague who knew the guy I was talking to - he wasn't from Russia at all - he was from RossShire and just had a very thick Scottish accent. Ah we can look back and laugh now. Anyway, I don't see this being all that different from British papers being on sale abroad. They're just catering to a new market, that's business. However I do wonder how they're going to word their next "Blame it on Poles/Immigrants" story. |
