Earth: The Pale Blue Dot
The picture in the link was taken by Voyager 1 as it was about to leave our solar system, from a distance of four billion miles away.
In the link is an almost mind blowing piece entitled, "Reflections on a Mote of Dust" by the now deceased American astronomer, and prominent backer of SETI Carl Sagan. It certainly puts into perspective the petty problems that make up all of our lives. http://obs.nineplanets.org/psc/pbd.html |
Re: Earth: The Pale Blue Dot
Ah Carl Sagan the poet and writer who inspired generations of scientists and would be armchair scientists.
I wish we had more like him.Science couldn't have a better spokesman. |
