Not sure what you find confusing or any information in those news items being conflicting.

The pollution we've been putting into the atmosphere (largely since the beginning of the industrial revolution) has reduced the effectiveness of the filter that shields the planet from the sun. This is leading to a general worldwide warming, particularly in areas of frozen tundra (including Alaska, Greenland and Siberia) that contain huge volumes of methane that'll further reduce the shield leading to just one of the climate change vicious circles.
