Recommend me a router for 20mbit service..

As above, what router/s have people had good experiences with?

Not too fussed about wireless as I hope to use those Devolo Dlan connectors.

Linksys WRT54g, wireless enabled but it can be disabled if not required. If flashed with DD-WRT firmware (for advanced users) you can get added functionality.

Its a well recommended router by CF members, including myself since I own one :)

Thank you.

By pure conicidence I was just looking at that exact range on Amazon:

Any suggestions on the cheapest place to buy?

You could give www.ebuyer.com a try, but I'm not sure if they're any cheaper.

Thank you.

Love the stats - coming from a 5mbit connection (on a good day with the wind in the right direction) that looks like nirvana!

I take it both of you are running DD WRT?

D-Link DIR-655, easily handles 20mbit connection, should be more than enough for 50mb connection too, if that ever happens. The wireless can be switched of if needed, I have it running without the wireless.

Yeah, I'm agree with Ditchy. D-Link DIR-655is good enough router for 20mbit service. I'm it's owner as well. Strongly recommend to buy this router coz of its features anf its price. The lowest I found at TestFreaks - £89:

Agree with you and runs fine with Tomato Firmware aswell.
But if you are looking at getting one of these and upgrading the firmware make sure you get the right version router as not all work .

Seeing as you're using this new-fangled electro-shock-therapy networking (i.e. you can tuck your router away anywhere there's a power socket) have you considered using an old PC with Linux on as a router/firewall (and file & print server, etc. if so desired)?

You'll use a little more power than an off the shelf domestic router but you'll have lots more functionality and it will be much more secure as well.

WRT54GL if you want to do that...

The newer WRT54G's use vxworks and have less memory, either cannot be flashed or can only run DD-WRT micro

The WRT54GL however is still using Linux based firmwares and can be reflashed with one of the alternate firmwares such as DD-WRT/Tomato/Openwrt.etc
