SO did a speed test and got the following results: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2008/05/10.png Next came the ping:- C:\Users\Rich & Kirsty>ping bbc.co.uk Pinging bbc.co.uk [212.58.224.131] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 212.58.224.131: bytes=32 time=968ms TTL=117 Reply from 212.58.224.131: bytes=32 time=632ms TTL=117 Reply from 212.58.224.131: bytes=32 time=1008ms TTL=117 Reply from 212.58.224.131: bytes=32 time=393ms TTL=117 Ping statistics for 212.58.224.131: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 393ms, Maximum = 1008ms, Average = 750ms Tracert Tracing route to virginmedia.com [212.250.162.12] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms buffalo.setup [192.168.11.1] 2 517 ms 238 ms 99 ms 10.60.144.1 3 423 ms 152 ms 514 ms 80-192-0-161.cable.ubr01.azte.blueyonder.co.uk 80.192.0.161] 4 641 ms 423 ms 738 ms 195.188.230.73 5 816 ms 624 ms 817 ms aztw-t3core-1b-ge-010-0.inet.ntl.com [80.1.240. 29] 6 673 ms 574 ms 338 ms bir-bb-b-so-110-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.175.161 7 431 ms 138 ms 204 ms nth-bb-a-so-100-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.185.105] 8 762 ms 664 ms 1057 ms lee-bb-b-so-200-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.175.134 9 982 ms 927 ms 834 ms man-bb-a-so-100-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.185.193] 10 976 ms 791 ms 1440 ms 212.43.162.202 11 1585 ms 1346 ms 1378 ms win-dc-b-v903.inet.ntl.com [213.105.174.38] 12 940 ms 1386 ms 1184 ms www.virginmedia.com [212.250.162.12] Trace complete. Re: What the hell is going on???
Absolute moron, when I prooved him wrong, because he sad a tracert can only have up 6 hops, I said you and I both know, anything up to 30
Still on the blower to them. God they dont half get on my nerves |
Re: What the hell is going on???
Standard question, are you wire connected direct to the modem, or are you connected via a router? If the latter, what happens when you connect direct?

Re: What the hell is going on???
Hey
First thing that popped to mind was my pile of crap Wifi Router. So unplugged, whacked in the Ethernet same results, slightly better but only a MS I spoke to Tech Support again, the lady advised something is wrong with the UBR and it is slightly overloaded. Engineer booked for Monday to come and sort out. I got a credit for £14.00 for the problems & she also advised me 8AM-8PM you will get UK Support Agents, after 8 its over to India Also some interesting details about Phorm, Virgin Media signed the "provionsal Agreement" to find out about the technology. I advised her of my concerns for privacy and she said, there will be a Opt Out, I advised still makes me think there, is it really opt out! |
Re: What the hell is going on???
My connection went mental at about the same time for a while, I was getting pings of 1000 +
I decided there and then that the BT line is being reactivated for me. |

1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms buffalo.setup [192.168.11.1]
2 517 ms 238 ms 99 ms 10.60.144.1 Correct me if I'm wrong but surely that looks like an issue between router and modem? |

Either way it seems like an out of the house issue. |

The 192.168.x.x is webcrawler's router, 10.60.x.x is the cable modem and 80.192.x.x is her/his public IP on an AztecWest UBR. Quote:
