Tesco Digilogic DVRW2

I hope someone can help. My DVD recorder is recently out of its 1 year warranty, and it has just stopped producing any sound at all either on programmes recorded from the TV or from DVDs. I have no idea if there is anything I can do or if I just have to dump it and buy a new one, but would be very grateful if any kind person can advise. Sorry, I am a bit of a :dunce: when it comes to technology. PS have read the trouble-shooter, and it is plugged in and I haven't switched the volume off accidentally!!

Hi, thank you for the reply. It is connected by a Scart lead.

Jane :)

Ok, - have you already tried unplugging the lead & plugging it back in and/or have you tried another lead ? :)

Have tried unplugging it and plugging it back in several times, but not a new lead so will try that tomorrow. The history of the loss of sound is I recorded a programme from the TV about a week ago and when I tried to play it the sound was very distorted so I thought it migth just be a dodgy disk. But then today when my son tried to play a DVD he had bought there was no sound at all nor with any others we tried. J.

Let us know how you get on, it may sound crass suggesting the scart lead as the first option, but it is also (potentially) the cheapest thing to try.

If that fails, we can look at other options, like seeing if your TV & the recorder have RCA stereo sound connectors?

Any 'digital' sound options will not work with just scart, so make sure any audio options are just set to 'stereo', where appropriate :)

If it is definitely knackered...

You could try taking it back to Tesco.

A DVD recorder should be expected to last for more than one year.

Although the warranty has expired, it is a manufacturer's warranty and is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer.

Your contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer, & you have many handy rights against them under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) & related legislation.
