router working then failing

hi people,

I have a dynamode BR6004 acting as a router between to pc's.

After repairing and setting up the pc's to use the IP add on the router everything worked fine.

then for no reason I can think of it failed,

I can shut it all down and reset and it will work for a few mins but then I just lose compleatly the network connection on the modem.

I have double checked my connections.

please please help!

That sounds like it isn't renewing the DHCP lease properly - the router needs to be set to 'act as DHCP server' & 'obtain an IP address automatically.

Are you putting a lot of data through the router, eg p2p or shunting large ISO's around? Might be overloading the router.

I am able to set my router to obtain the IP add auto, but cannot find any option to set " act as DHCP server "? I am using the dynamicDchp option to connect.

I am not using a huge amount of data and just looking to run 2 pc's on virgin media broadband.

'dynamic dhcp' is probably the correct setting - different routers call it different things.

- but it is a puzzle why you seem to initially get a connection & then lose it, I think you need someone with a bit more nouse than myself, for this one, sorry..
