Surround sound on VM via HDMI
Hi folks,
I have noticed that a few comments recently have suggested that surround (DD?) is available on a number of channels from the V+ box. I have mine hooked up to my receiver using an HDMI cable (after setting HDMI override on the V+) I now get DD sound when watching HD content. However I do not get it on any other channels. Does it really exist on other channels? If so, which? Does it require me to add a second dedicated (optical) for the DD sound? If so - this is a bit of a faff! Isn't it? Anyone got any definitive info - that they have verified themselves. Thanks! |
Re: Surround sound on VM via HDMI
If you're getting DD on BBCHD then your rig is set up correctly. The only SD channels that have ever had DD on them are the Sky Movie channels when fed by certain headends. I believe it's an exTW/exNTL thing again.
Slightly OT, what receiver do you have? |

Is he mislead - or does he actually get a different service, I wonder? Quote:

Re: Surround sound on VM via HDMI
Good-o.
Asked because I'm planning on upgrading my venerable Yammy DSP-A5 this year. I like the feature set of the Onkyo's but don't like the aesthetics and I'm concerned about how warm they are reputed to run. Enjoy BBCHD anyway! |
Re: Surround sound on VM via HDMI
The 705 doesn't run especially hot (the 875 reputedly does). The aesthetics are fine IF you get black.
