Re: Virgin V+Box
And breathe! Full stops often help.
All the extra menu option does is queue up any recordings you have and then play them back in real time. You then set your DVD recorder to record the V+ box as you would if it were live. |
Re: Virgin V+Box
Sorry this is the first time I have used this forum. I have tryed many times to transfer a programme is it possible to give me a run down how to make this work. I welcome any help thanks BoB

Re: Virgin V+Box
is the DVD switched to the channel of the V+

Re: Virgin V+Box
The scart socket on the V+ box is disabled if you use the HDMI output.
Setting it to record through the extras menu opens the scart port so you can record to video or dvd, plus you can continue to watch any other channel through HDMI at the same time. Sometimes I have to power cycle my DVD recorder before it picks up the scart signal from the V+ box when I am recording. |
Re: Virgin V+Box
The last code drop re enabled the the vcr scart output when using hdmi output, though you can't see menus or epg via this scart.

Re: Virgin V+Box
use the bottom scart on the v+ direct to your dvd recorder, play your chosen prog on the v+ and record the correct input on your dvd

Re: Virgin V+Box
Welcome to the forum Bob. If you are still having problems transferring a programme stored on your V+ to your DVD recorder , then as piggy says, first check that the scart cable from your DVD recorder is connected to the lower of the 2 scart sockets on your V+.
You then need to press the button marked V+ on your remote and choose option 4 (V+ extras) then select Copy to VCR/DVD and press OK. This will allow you to select which programme(s) you wish to transfer. As I don't know which DVD recorder you have I can not advise you on the action you need to take to get it to record from the V+/scart input , but if you record a 5 minute slice of a programme manually with the V+ then trying different recording options on your DVD recorder will soon show you which is the right one. The full V+ manual can be found here. |
Re: Virgin V+Box
Since the last code drop Scart output doesn't seem to have been fully enabled when using hdmi. I can see the picture through by DVD recorder but I don't get any sound. When I change the input to the TV to scart then the output to the DVD recorder has sound again. Weird :erm:

Re: Virgin V+Box
Are you actually connecting and/or disconnecting equipment during this process?

Re: Virgin V+Box
No I havent changed any of the scart leads I can only think that I have the scart leads to where they should go. Because i would not be able to record in the normal way which I can do.

Go through the 'record to DVD' sequence and see what you get on your TV. If you get the picture and sound then you have established that the V+ is doing it's job and we need to sort out what is happening with your recorder. With a little luck someone may have the same recorder, or more ideas, and can figure out what is happening. |

Re: Virgin V+Box
It does look like your dvd is overiding your v+ when it is switched on. On the dvd remote there should be a button marked tv/dvd try pressing that it will remove the voltage on pin 8 of the scart and allow you to see the v+ menus.
