these seem very cheap |
Re: What Do People Think Of These DVD Recorders
They do seem very cheap. I can tell you that the first Liteon one is not bad in the sense that it records and plays back OK. It's not the quietest bit of equipment and the drawer tends to be a bit tempremental. I've had mine for about 3 years and paid about £150 for it. There are later model liteon dvd recorders with 80gb hard drives available for about £65 from places like fleabay.:)

Re: What Do People Think Of These DVD Recorders
im afraid Liteon is not a good bet at all
I bought a 5045 DVD recorder (cheap apparent high spec) worked fime for 8 months - optical drive failed - went in for warrenty repair - fixed ok - worked for another 10 months then guess what optical drive failed in record mode - back for an extended 24 month (special to UK ) warrenty repair etc came back fixed worked for 5 months optical drive failed 3rd time OUTSIDE 24 month warrenty PROBLEM - there is NO out of warrenty repair service in Europe for Liteon quote " it's too expensive - it's cheaper to buy a new one ? ? ? ? ? ? " Liteon reliability - very very bad - check out the web forums ditched Liteon - bought a new Samsung one |
Re: What Do People Think Of These DVD Recorders
I've had problems with SumVision so i'de say stay away from them
some cheap DVD recorders record to a different standard then DVD's standard VIDEO_TS etc. a friend has a machine which recordings only work on his machine, i have to spend the best part of an hour converting it into something useful just my 2p |

IMHO you get what you pay for.
I've always gone for big named brands. The big companies will have a higher quality control and use better quality parts. |

Re: What Do People Think Of These DVD Recorders
I bought a yamada ( I think its a lite on drive) dvd recorder about a year ago from maplins and it's rubbish, far too noisy, could not get it to record on a - or a + dvdr, only on a dvdrw. Only good for time slipping tv on to the hard drive. Have since bought a sony which is excellent. I seem to think all the dheap players/recorders are very old defunct drives.
