Existing Telewest bill..?

Hi guys,

Someone help me here

I cancelled Telewest back in 2002 after getting fed up of their billing mistakes. I paid part of the amount it was due (Telewest paid the rest to remedy their error) then I cancelled it. Great.. Left it at that

Now I decided to try VM. I ordered for one online and entered my details etc .. Then I was told it will be such and such. 3 weeks later, I've heard nothing from them, so I called VM to see what's happening with my order - to my horror they said that I apparently has an outstanding bill from Telewest of £900+ so therefor cannot approve me for VM. I cannot understand how or why billed me for that much when I've paid it off and had no letters or the likes since 2002. (I'm still living at the address since then!)

So how did they work out that I owe them that much for cable TV?!

No letters asking for £900 after I phoned VM!! What's going on?

Thanks

T

Have you tried to speak to anyone who can tell you what this debt is?

Hi - was told it's to do with Unpaid/late payment charges, which I stated to VM that I already paid off the bill so the account should've said no amount owed and closed (I didnt have contract with them as I finished it 1 year before I cancelled it). And VM said that they can't do anything about it until I paid the amount in full. I did tell them that I had no letters or anything for 6 years asking for £900+ .. They didnt know what to say except repeating these words "Sorry, we cannot issue you an account with VM until you've paid Telewest in full"

It sounds like you would have been speaking to someone in sales which are as much use a chocolate fireguard unless you are buying something. Have a word with Customer Care or Credit Services.

And VM is Telewest, Just a name change.
