Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG / Wireless Router help

Hi everyone, Sorry if this has been posted in the past. I have been trying to set up a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG / Wireless Router on Virgin broadband so my little bro in law can get online with his PS3. The instructions that came with the router are not very good at all and was hoping one of you good people would be able to help.

Many Thanks in advance, this looks like a great forum. :)

EDIT: I was able to connect to the router but not get any websites up on the wireless device (at the time I was trying on a PSP just to test)

Is the connection Cable or ADSL?

Thanks for your reply Stuart, It is ADSL Connection.

I am sorry to double post but please can anyone inform me if there is a website to check if they are using DSL or ADSL ? I am starting to think now that this could be the problem.

Many thanks.

Do you get you broadband through a 'Cable Modem' (coax lead feeding in to a small silver or blue box, which has an ethernet connection to router) or do you plug into a telephone socket? ADSL is delivered via the phone socket, cable via a cable modem (or Virgin Set-top box).
Also, your Virgin bill should give you a hint.

Thanks Aragorn, It is actually through a Silver box and cable modem, So is it impossible to use this Dynamode router with this type of connection..

Thanks again.

Yep - an ADSL router will not share cable broadband :(

Thanks very much. I will send the router back and have to look for an alternative.

Sprry to hijack my own thread.. but does anyone know where I can get a good router for under £50 that is good enough for a Playstation 3 gaming.

Personally, I've always used Linksys kit, as have a lot of others here. Look for a WRT54G which should be in you price range.

Maybe worth having a look at here http://www.ebuyer.com/cat/Wireless/s...rs---Cable-DSL it has some reviews and prices are reasonable even with P&P. I've bought two routers from there and had now problems with any of them.
