VM Has Best BB Speeds

A check of over 40,000 connections has shown that VM provides the most consistant BB speed. Other links also suggest average speed for UK is less than 3Meg.

No what they say in the link is Broadband Expert has been testing 41,230 internet connections, thats connections from all major ISP's not just virgin. And virgin came out with the best speeds.

It's funny... People here seem happy to take the opinions of a couple of hundred random forum members (we have around 30,000 members and only a few of them complain) as an accurate indication of of how bad Virgin Media is, but when someone presents a survey of 40,000 connections where most of the results were good, it's not an accurate indication.

What exactly does a quick speedtest proove anyway ?

Plugin - 2 min speedtest - results. Yes under those conditions Virgin Media is probably near the top.

But for actually long term usability with the caps and future caps that Virgin will be applying, Virgin ends up bottom of the pile.

So to summarise

If you use broadband for 5 minutes a day then pick Virgin otherwise forget it.
