Great news – we’re cutting the cost of surfing the net on your mobile phone. Whether you’re finding out what’s on at your nearest cinema, sticking a bid on e-Bay or checking Facebook, from 23rd of June it’ll cost an even cheaper rate of £2 per Mb, instead of £5 per Mb in the UK. That's 60% cheaper! So, browsing around 8 pages on eBay costs about 10p, depending on what type of phone you've got.

The chat part of Bites will also be even cheaper, it’ll cost just £2 per Mb, instead of £3 per Mb.
Are you on the right tariff?
We’ve made some changes to our Pay As You Go tariffs to reflect the way our customers use their phone. So now’s a good time to check you’re on the best tariff for you.

Right now, you’re on our Daily Bonus tariff, which means you pay one simple flat rate for all your calls. That’s just 15p a minute to any UK network or UK landline. Plus, you can earn free minutes and texts too.

So when you send 5 texts to any UK mobile or even a UK landline, we’ll give you the next 5 texts free.

To pick up free minutes, you simply make 5 minutes of calls a day to any UK mobile network or landline and we’ll give you the next 5 minutes free to make the same types of calls.

Like always, picking up your voicemail is free in the UK and the cost of texting other networks is just 10p a message.

The main change on your Daily Bonus tariff is from 12th of May, sending another Virgin Mobile a message costs 5p a message, instead of 3p a message.

So if you make lots of calls, or send lots of texts, to other UK networks, this is definitely the tariff for you.

Of course, you’re free to switch to our standard Pay As You Go tariff and get better value calls to other Virgin Mobiles and landlines if you choose. There are no strings and no ties, so you can swap between our tariffs if you want to. Just let us know which one’s best for you.

Ever use call forwarding services?
The next change only applies to you if you use advertised call forwarding services with numbers beginning 07 eg 07744 or 07755. These aren’t like normal mobile phone numbers, they’re services you can use if you want to manage your calls. From now on it’ll cost 35p a minute to use them from your Virgin Mobile phone and if you have an airtime bundle, these calls won’t come out of this.
Those wap charges are still shocking. Looks like I'm stuck with switching SIMs still. :(

Those at the top of Virgin Mobile really have lost the plot - they're really promoting this 'cheaper' WAP access when its actually still very expensive. They say they are catering for the 'Mobile Internet users' market because there has been change in trends and how people use their phones. But how anyone can say £2 for a 1Mb of access, is 'great news' is beyond me.

FYI virgin, internet access charges by other networks on payasugo

t-mobile: £1 per day, 5 days £2.50
orange: £1 per day
O2: £7.50 per month
3: £5 per month

Maybe you need to check again before you claim to be competitive
