Tried and tested video senders compatable with V+?
 

Hi. Does anyone know of or have used a remote video sender with their V+ box that can transmit sound and vision and also control the remote from the reciever?

Obviously I am looking to spend as little as possible, the cheapest I have seen so far is £100 and cant justify that for the sake of walking down the stairs!

Just buy the cheapest you can find. Something like this.

There's a lot of misinformation about IR protocols. The only cable boxes that use a non-standard protocol are the Pace 1000, 1010, 2000 and 4000, and the SA4000 & SA4200. The V+, both Samsungs, and the Pace 4001 & 4010 are fine.

Plug the sender into the VCR SCART socket on the V+. Just in case you are not aware, if the V+ is in HD mode, you won't be able to see the menus through the sender. But you can surf channels ok.

Well spiderplant you were totally right thanks!! My av sender is installed and working ok but, as you mentioned, I cannot see the menus through the video out.

How can I change it from HD mode? The only video option i can find is a composite/RGB selection which make no difference.

In that case I wasn't totally right. Composite/RGB is SD mode, and I didn't realise you didn't get the menus in that mode. :erm:

You'll need to plug the sender into the TV SCART to be able to see the menus. If you have the downstairs TV connected by SCART, that could be a problem Some TVs have SCART passthrough between two of their ports, so you could daisychain them (check the manual). Otherwise you might need to get a SCART splitter like this.

The information on the V+ sender options and the set-up was very useful, many thanks. Can anyone help me as i am unable to see the menus from my second TV. I have just bought a Nikkai 5.8GHZ unit not cheap as I was told it was the only one that would work with the V+ box and as I have wireless i needed the hight frequency band. Any help would be appreciated..

Whilst the sender will work, the channel changer (Sky configuration) won't

Think it says so on the packet doesn't it?

To get the menus, you need to use a scart splitter and plug your transmitter into the same output as for your main TV. I got one off ebay for about £3 and does the job fine.

By the way, I also have wirless internet installed in my home and have had no interference problems at all. My transmitter/reciever cost me £24.99 from Robert Dyas and works a treat. I'm afraid whoever told you to buy the expensive unit has mis-informed you. Was he the owner of a shop by any chance? ;)

I can vouch for this. We have Tesco's own brand (Technika) Senders in 3 different rooms and the picture/audio is transmitted perfectly. We also have full control using the remote in any room and the menus all show up as we use a scart splitter as described above.

Works like a charm. Sadly we did get interference when we had a wireless router running so I turned off the wireless function and it's all good now. We didnt need a wireless network at the time so it's not bothered us but if we needed one later on down the line then we would need to have a rethink.

can somebody give me the argos catalog number of a product that will work with the v+ box,

also will the remote function work on it ok ?

i also use the hdmi setting, and just been reading that this wont work with a video sender, is this correct ?

If you use hdmi then you have no TV scart out which carries the menu

You can still use sender with VCR out scart but it doesn't carry the menu (you can still change channel up/down but no on screen display) and VCR out is only composite which should be fine on second TV

ahh right,

so what sort of second remote would i need to purchase, ie ebay .. v+ one or a normal virgin remote?

also can you suggest any of the video senders that will work on argos site.. ?

I am sorry if this has already been answered - reading the above I think I know the answer - but here is the question.

I currently have CRT TV connected to my V+ via a scart. The scart on the back of V+ has an adaptor that has hardwired video and audio output and a scart pass through (I was experiencing picture distortion due to my wireless router). I do still use my sender to reansmit the remote signal but obviously not the video or audio signal.

On Wednesday of next week we are having a new HD TV delivered and obviously I will want the picture in the lounge to be from the HDMI output from the V+ but I will still want the signal routed upstairs via the scart as described above.

From what I have read above I assume I will need to use the Video scart connector, but by doing so will lose the menus. Or can I carry on using the main scart - if I do I assume I will need to change the video settings from HD to composite before going upstairs - but will keep menu capability. Will I need to physicaly disconnect the HDMI or just change the settings?

Sorry if this is a bit garbled but I would like to get this sorted (Just to throw a spanner in the works I had actualy intended to connect my DVD recorder to the video scart - I guess a dvd splitter might be needed.
