wired & wireless
Hi,
1st post. Currently have wired connection via cable modem. Want to retain wired capability to Desktop , & wish to add wireless capability to allow laptops to share internet connection. Any info recommendations re suitable cable routers appreciated. Desktop is dual boot (XP Pro/Fedora Core 5 Linux). Any router would have to support Linux. Thanks |

All routers will support Linux, it's whether the adaptor installed in your computer has a linux compatible driver you need to consider. The router is usually controlled by your internet browser be that firefox, opera or whatever. The Linkysys WRT54G series routers are often popular, the WRT54GL being specifically designed with a linux firmware that you can flash with whatever firmware you want. However as it says 54 means "g" speeds and you may desire something higher specified for future compatibility. |

Thanks for your prompt reply Rob.
I've researched the WRT54GL after your advice & it would seem to fit my bill. I'll give it a whirl. |
