correct connect
just wondered is there any need for correct connect to be on my pc anymore? it still loads up every day but i dont think it actually does any thing or even work now we are on virgin media and not ntl?
i went to add remove programes to uninstall it and it said do you want to completely remove and all its componants, if i remove it will it stop my connection? and get rid of all my internet and email settings? i recently installed zone alarm and that has blocked it anyway! thanks from jane windows xp ethernet connection broadband |
Re: correct connect
It shouldn't (your connection via Ethernet is handled by your network card drivers, and XP's built in networking system, both of which are seperate from correct connect).
However, if you want to be sure, it might be an idea to create a new system restore point so you can undo the changes made if needed. To do this, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Now, select "create restore point" and click next. Give the point a logical description and click "Create". When it finishes, click "close". To Restore it, run the program, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time". Click next. Select the date you made the restore point from the calendar on the left, then the restore point itself from the list on the right. Click next and follow the wizard. You may be asked to restart your PC. If you are, do. |
Re: correct connect
yes but using system restore wouldnt reinstall a program after i have uninstalled it would it?

Re: correct connect
Some time ago ntl encouraged the use of correct connect. It is totally unnecessary on a modern connection using the ethernet based modem.
Unfortunately once installed, it may well have changed some of the internet coding stuff on you PC. Thus removal may not be glitch free and you may need to manually reset some stuff such as the network card and Internet Explorer connection settings. |
Re: correct connect
I had correct connect at one point and it kept asking me to upgrade to ntl: broadband medic so I just uninstalled it and my connection continued to work as normal. I randomly reinstalled it once and it refused to connect to the ntl server so I emailed ntl and they told me it was no longer supported and to uninstall it.
