Is my Linksys Router faulty?

Excuse my ignorance guys, this is ths first time i have tried to set up a wifi network.

I have just purchased a Linksys WRT54G router. I am trying to connect it directly to my PC via ethernet. I follow all instructions as required...power up modem, then router, then PC. All the correct lights are illuminated on both the modem and the router but i cannot access the settings page 192.169.1.1

After a few minutes the WLAN light goes out and the DMZ light comes on. I have followed the instuctions and tried on 3 seperate computers, including my mates and still i get the same problem. I have even tried resetting the routers default settings by holding in the button for 30 secs.

Is there something i am doing wrong or is the router faulty?

Re: Is my Linksys Router faulty?

default for linksys is 192.168.1.1.

What IP address does you PC have? not sure the default one given by windows if no DCHP server is available will allow you to connect. If you have a 192.168.1.* address then you should be able to connect if you have a wired connection, wireless administration is turned off by default.
