Network scan for p2p?

Does know of any software that can scan a LAN and tell you if p2p software such as limewire is being used?

You could try the following.

Open a command screen type netstat press enter, any active open ports will be listed.

hmmm, well there is two ways I can think of. Either do a port scan on each computer for open ports that may indicate it. Or run all the traffic through some router that makes logs or a packets sniffer.

Depending on who owns the network the latter could be illegal.

You may have some success with SNORT

http://www.snort.org/

It doesn't work out of the box so to speak, you have to build your own ruleset or use one which someone has already created.
