anti-SPYCOMS host file

This is a discussion on a anti-SPYCOMS host file. Unlike the way it has been reported on how Phorm is going to work this is an Opt-In list to user, no one is forcing anyone to use this hosts file.

Any business which has business activities with Phorm will be put on list. Any business that has been reported to be reviewing the idea of doing business with Phorm will be put on the list but highlighted out so there domains will not be blocked, but are put on list until there make a public comment that there are not going to business with Phorm. Also this has advantage that user could decided to block it them self.

If you want to talk about Phorm then you would be better to discussing at http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...s-updated.html

This is first list and various omissions and error's contained within it

So help The People Vs SPYCOMS make a better list

Have just downloaded the hosts file and seen the (extensive) list within. Please forgive what might be an obvious question, but is one supposed to import this list into one's existing host file?

Either overwrite your existing hosts file "Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts", or if you use a hosts management app, backup your hostfile and then merge this one with it. :)

this is just stupid imo. posting new 'versions' everyday if you like, will get somewhat annoying no doubt.

It's been a while since I used host files for exclusions, but doesn't a very large host file slow down your browsing?

Not at all, my host file has some 14800+ lines IIRC, no slowness here at all.

14810 to be precise.
