I am on ADSL and I connected simply by using a NETGEAR DG 834 v3, if it is any use ?

i'm still having no joy with this. been at it for another 4 hours today with no luck.

i can get onto the web based setup, but have no idea where to go from there.

also, my laptop can connect to the router wirelessly, yet my 2nd computer cannot (usb wireless stick attched) why is it that i can find the wireless connection, but not get the dynamode router to get onto the net.

paid 40 quid for this and its really doing my nut in.

any help is appreciated

Craig

log onto the router via a web browser, click on WAN or ADSL and you will get the connection setup page, enter the username and password in the appropriate places for your connection, click submit, it should connect ok.

hi all, again!!!
I've been lucky enough to have had my router working for around 6 months now, but all of a sudden its stopped working.
I've gone over the web based setup a million times and found the right setup number for vpi/vci etc. from the tiscali website and to no avail :(
anyone have anything that can help me. I'm lost without my wireless :(

What are the LED status indicators showing on the router? (Your connection might be down).

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/at...7&d=1233955354

Does the router work using a wired connection (has the router got a switch to turn off wifi, if it has check its switched on).

I take it you checked all the details in the router settings listed on Tiscalis website and not just the VPI/VCI values?
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/help/broadb..._settings.html

If you haven't got a copy of the manual you can get it from here:

 you haven't turned the wireless off at the laptop end.

Re: how do i connect???? HELP PLEASE!!!!

Hi,
I've tried configuring it as listed on tiscalis website:

Virtual Circuit Identifier - VCI 38
Virtual Path Identifier - VPI 0
Encapsulation Mode VCMux
Authentication Type CHAP
Protocol RFC 2364:
PPP over ATM (PPPoA)
Modulation Type G.DMT or Auto
Tiscali Primary DNS Server 212.74.112.66
Tiscali Secondary DNS Server 212.74.112.67

Although the only thing I couldn't change or am unaware of how to, was the DNS servers.

The router doesnt have a wireless on/off switch, and the LED status are:
power - red
lan/wifi - orange/yellow

It's not just the wireless which is not working though, its the whole router. It connects to the computer but will not connect to the internet through the router.

Thanks for the input so-far though Noggo :)

Re: how do i connect???? HELP PLEASE!!!!

No WAN LED??? = DSL line not Connected or problem at BT exchange.
If no LED is showing ring Tiscali in the morning.

Re: how do i connect???? HELP PLEASE!!!!

Hi, try changing your dsl filter as they are prone to just dying also check user and password on the router i.e try calling tiscali and asking them what your user and password is for it as it may have been changed, I have come across this many times.

Re: how do i connect???? HELP PLEASE!!!!

If the WAN light is off then there is a problem with the connection from BT - ring Tiscali - good luck - you'll need it as they are "a complete bunch of muppets".

Actually - this is not a strong enough phrase - what I would like to post about them would result in me getting an instant ban from CF!
