Bush urges wiretap immunity law

Quote:

President George W Bush has urged the "urgent" passing of a bill that would retroactively shield telecoms firms which helped the government eavesdrop
Quote:

The law expired, the threat to America has not expired," Mr Bush said.
The same old sayings Bush keeps using to try and push Americans into a corner until there's so many laws passed to deprave people of there rights ,they won't have none left.

Bush is lying through his teeth, there's a perfectly serviceable law brought in after the Nixon outrages, and strengthened post-9/11 called FISA which allows lawful wiretaps after a judge has agreed, which they invariably do. Bush doesn't like the idea of judges having to agree, he wants to tap anyone, anywhere, any time. That's dictator stuff.

America isn't at risk from anything other than having a lying, depraved idiot with blood on his hands as President.

I think good ol'george is more worried about what will come out after he is out the door. Afterall he might be the president now and people rather be on his good side then bad but how that will change when he is gone more so if someone feels they can benefit from disclosing something. I would imagine he would have a lot of things on tape that he wouldn't want the world to know about.

I have a horrible suspicion what he says in private is exactly what he says in public...

The people around him, however... There's a brewing scandal around the refusal of a couple of close aides (including his pet lawyer Harriet Miers, whom he at one point tried to appoint to the Supreme Court) to testify to Congress. There's a big obsession with secrecy, too, mainly centered around Cheney, whom, let's be clear, is much more evil than Bush.

Yes. But only until inauguration, a period I suspect he'll spend deleting and shredding things, before tossing a match to the lot on the way out. He should be impeached.
