What area am I in?
hello, sorry if this is a silly question but how do I find what area/proxy I am in? I have always presumed I was in Bolton area but iv noticed my proxies switch alot from Farnworth to Bolton in the past. If it helps I am in a town between Bury and Bolton called Radcliffe, Also throught the past week(maybe 2) iv been experiencing quite a considerable drop in service.
On the 20 mb line but speed tests show no where near. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/1732/ntlslow1tf1.jpg http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/143/ntlslow2so0.jpg Not these two speed tests were done at midnight yesturday, thats off peak im im correct? http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedt...631527940.html today experiencing slightly better results at this time but still missing about 15 mb. Also to be frank the highest I have seen it was at 14 mb but that was a loooong time ago does anyone know if VM are having any problems at the moment? thanks for our time:angel: |
Re: What area am I in?
Click the `connection` link in the dark blue forum header bar above and this will bring up a new window with what UBR you are connected to. Info in box should look like this if your on ex-telewest and a little bit different if ex-NTL (my IP address has been blanked out)
Connection Information You appear to be on a Virgin Media Connection Your IP address is **.**.**.*** Host **.**.**.***.cable.ubr01.brom.blueyonder.co.uk Then go to: http://help2.virginmedia.com/help/ge...t_advanced_dns and look it up in the list at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps |
Re: What area am I in?
probably no help at all but I'm in Bolton and I'm on this
cpc4-bolt7-0-0-custxxx.manc.cable.ntl.com My connection has seemed pretty good of late..Just done the following test on the same site as you, That's with the missus on ebay on the laptop as well.. http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/3...eedtestig6.jpg |
Re: What area am I in?
Guess im connected to Bolton then as I have the same:
cpc3-bolt7-0-0-custxxx.manc.cable.ntl.com Could not find Bolton or Manchester in those region codes but that cant be for te hold of the country as many areas seem to be missing. I guess its a possability its not an area problem if your are achieving those speeds, Just did irishisptest.com and got 10 mb just now? Maybe I am getting seriously traffic shaped? I do have 3 computers hooked upto the 20 mb but I was only on during the speed tests earlier. Could I please know how much the downlaod limit is in peak times and when exactly are peak times? This could let me test somethings ;). Dont think im a heavey user though but all 3 computers mainly consist of watching youtube videos, online gaming and browsing the net. Had fingers crossed over a few weeks now hoping things would get better but they never seem to do. Personally I have never seen my connection hit its full 20 mb in months :(. Thanks for your help :tu: |

Re: What area am I in?
Does anyone know what area I am in?
spc1-bexl4-0-0-cust192.asfd.broadband.ntl.com I'd like to know so that I know when I'll be getting my 10mb upgrade :D I also have some terrible download speeds. I am on the 4mb plan but I have never got higher than 2mb, it's usually 1mb. I'm currently using a Samsung 2100c STB but Virgin is coming round to replace it soon. |
